My name is Heath Capps. I created this site to share (and organize?) my genealogical research, both for my family and for any fellow researchers.
My father’s ancestors appear to have mostly originated in England and Ireland, with a smattering from Germanic Europe, Wales, and Central Africa. My mother’s are predominantly from England, Northwestern Europe, Scotland, Germanic Europe, Sweden, Denmark, and a tiny bit from the Baltics. Both parents hail from Marion, South Carolina.
I have a selfish interest in my Scottish heritage. My mother’s side is home to a host of Campbells and Carmichaels, and unearthing the stories associated with those original families is exciting to me. There are also Crawfords and those of Clan Hay, and probably more that I have yet to uncover. Many of my ancestors roamed all across the Carolinas. I hope to find out as much as I can about their origins.
Lastly, the term Outlander is defined as “a person who belongs to another region, culture, or group, a foreigner, or stranger.” It seemed an appropriate name for this collection of my findings, as a person of Scottish ancestry living in the Carolinas. And yes, I have watched the show and many parts of it are super. I hope you enjoy these pages, whoever you are. Sláinte!
